The Fairmont Free Methodist Church was organized in 1899.  Their first meeting house was built on Morgantown Ave. next door to where the Fire Station presently stands.  Then in 1923 the present church building was erected at 910 Morgantown Ave.  In the middle of the Great Depression, the mortgage was foreclosed and the church building put up for sale.  The Nazarene Church bought it and held the deed until it could be bought back.  Much hard work, sacrifice, and prayer on the part of many were vital in the re-securing of the building.   In the early 1960's the Youth Center was built next door by the laymen of the church.  Over the years, it has been a blessing not only to this church, but also to other churches and community organizations.
